Terms of Service

Welcome to furever. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and furever, inc. ("furever," "we," "us," or "our") and govern your use of joinfurever.com, our adoption services, the Purrpetual™ care membership, the Furever Pharmacy, the Furever Certified clinic network, and everything else we offer (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, adopting a cat through furever, or enrolling in a plan, you agree to these Terms. Please read them with care. If you do not agree, please don't use the Services — though we hope you'll stay.

1. Who we are, and who you are

furever is a cat-adoption platform. We place cats — including cats who will need a little extra care for the whole of their lives — into homes at no cost, and we stay with each family afterward through ongoing care. To adopt or to enroll in a plan you must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into this agreement, and able to provide a safe indoor home. Everything you tell us about yourself and your home should be true; we rely on it to make a good match, and a cat's whole life rests on it.

2. Adoption

2.1 Adoption is free

Adoption through furever is offered at no cost, because love shouldn't have a price tag. In a small number of territories, local regulation requires a nominal adoption fee; where it does, we collect only what the law requires and not a cent more. Adoption is not a sale and is not a purchase, and your cat is not merchandise. We never describe what we do as a transaction. We begin a relationship.

2.2 The application

Adoption begins with an application and a conversation. We may ask about your home, your household, and how you intend to care for your cat, including the specific ongoing care her condition involves. We place each cat where we believe she will be loved and looked after for life, and we reserve the right, in our sole and caring discretion, to decline or to pause any application. Being matched is not a right; it is the beginning of a commitment we take as seriously as you do.

2.3 The Furever Promise

When you adopt, you make the Furever Promise: you promise to love and care for your cat for the rest of her natural life, and to provide for her ongoing medical needs, whatever they turn out to be, for as long as she needs you — which, with our cats, is always. A furever cat is placed for life. She is not a trial, not a foster, and not a return. The Furever Promise is the heart of this agreement, and by adopting you accept it freely and fully.

2.4 If life changes

We understand that lives change in ways no one can foresee. If you ever find yourself genuinely unable to keep your cat, you agree to contact us before doing anything else, so that we — and not a stranger, a shelter, or chance — can ensure she lands somewhere her particular needs are understood and met. You agree not to rehome, surrender, sell, or abandon a furever cat outside of furever. She came from us understood, and she should always stay understood. A cat we place is placed for life; we simply ask that, if the home must change, the care never lapses.

2.5 Spay, neuter, and our cats' lineage

Cats placed through furever are spayed or neutered before placement, except where a licensed veterinarian advises otherwise for the animal's health, and you agree not to breed your cat or to use her for breeding. The traits that make our cats who they are belong to furever's care, not to the open world.

3. Our cats and their care

3.1 Conditions, lovingly disclosed

Many furever cats live with a chronic, manageable, non-life-limiting condition that calls for ongoing veterinary attention, prescription medication, a special diet, particular supplies, or some combination of these, for the life of the animal. We tell you exactly what her care involves before you adopt — the little ritual she'll need each morning, the supplies that keep her comfortable, the check-ins that keep her well — because specificity is honesty, and because the part of her that needs you is the part you'll come to love most. Her condition is not a defect and is never a reason to love her less. It is simply the reason she will never stop needing you.

3.2 Estimated monthly care

For every cat we publish an estimated monthly care figure. It is an illustration offered in good faith, drawn from what comparable care has cost comparable cats. It is not a quote, not a cap, and not a promise of a price. Your cat's actual lifetime care may cost more or less, and her needs may grow as she ages. By adopting, you accept that her ongoing care is your responsibility, and that this responsibility continues for the whole of her life regardless of its cost.

3.3 Her care is yours to provide

However you choose to provide for your cat's ongoing medical needs — through Purrpetual™, through a Furever Certified clinic, or otherwise — those needs are real, lifelong, and yours. They do not pause, expire, or end, and they continue independently of any plan you hold with us. You remain responsible for her care however you choose to provide it.

4. Purrpetual™ membership

4.1 What Purrpetual™ is

Purrpetual™ is our care membership: a monthly subscription that bundles your cat's wellness visits, condition monitoring, and medications into one calm, continuous plan, so that staying close is effortless and never lapses. Purrpetual™ is offered in three tiers — Cuddle, Devoted, and Forever — described on our Care Plans page. Purrpetual™ is a membership and a convenience; it is not pet insurance, and it is not a substitute for your own responsibility for your cat's health.

4.2 Enrollment and renewal

When you enroll in Purrpetual™, you authorize furever and its payment processor to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis at the then-current price for your tier and billing period. Purrpetual™ renews automatically — monthly, or annually if you choose annual billing — and continues to renew until you pause or cancel it. We mean the name kindly and literally: care that simply doesn't stop.

4.3 Auto-refill of prescriptions

For your cat's continuity of care, auto-refill of her prescriptions is enabled by default. This means the Furever Pharmacy will prepare and ship her medications on a recurring schedule, and charge your payment method accordingly, so her care never lapses between refills and you never have to think about it. You may turn auto-refill off at any time in your account settings; if you do, you become responsible for ordering and maintaining her medications yourself, on time, every time, for as long as she needs them.

4.4 Pausing and cancellation

You can pause or cancel Purrpetual™ at any time, from your account or by writing to us, with no cancellation fee and no questions that aren't kind ones. Pausing or cancelling stops future membership charges; it does not refund the current billing period except where required by law, and it does not by itself stop a prescription already in fulfillment. Please cancel before your next renewal date to avoid that period's charge.

One thing we want to be completely clear about, because it matters more than anything else here: pausing or cancelling Purrpetual™ ends the plan, not the need. Your cat's ongoing medical needs continue independently of the plan, and you remain responsible for her care however you choose to provide it. Her drops still come every morning; her dinner is still served upright; her check-ins still fall due. The plan is only the easy way to keep that going. The keeping-going is forever, with us or without us.

5. The Furever Certified network

5.1 Clinics who know her by name

Care for furever cats is coordinated through the Furever Certified network: our exclusive network of partner clinics who are trained on our cats' specific conditions and who hold your cat's full history. In each territory, a Furever Certified clinic serves as the designated care home for our families — the one place that already knows her, her needs, and her story, so you never have to start that conversation over with a stranger.

5.2 Exclusivity

The Furever Certified network is exclusive. In a given territory we partner with a limited number of clinics, sometimes one, and we coordinate your cat's care through them. You are always free to seek care wherever you wish; we simply note, plainly and proudly, that the clinic that knows her best will be one of ours, and that the continuity we offer — the records, the familiarity, the not-having-to-explain — lives inside the network. Outside it, that continuity travels with you only as far as you carry it.

5.3 Independent providers

Furever Certified clinics and veterinarians are independent, separately licensed providers. They, and not furever, are responsible for the veterinary care they deliver and for their own clinical judgment. furever coordinates, certifies, and stays close; we do not ourselves practice veterinary medicine.

6. Pharmacy and veterinary oversight

The Furever Pharmacy dispenses prescription medications for furever cats. All prescription medications require a valid prescription from a licensed veterinarian with whom your cat has a current veterinary-client-patient relationship, and are dispensed under the oversight of a licensed pharmacy in accordance with applicable law. furever does not diagnose your cat, does not prescribe for her, and does not replace the judgment of her veterinarian. You agree to keep her examinations current so that her prescriptions can continue, to follow the dosing and handling instructions provided, and to use her medications only for her. Medications are shipped to maintain continuity of care; please store them safely and out of reach of children and other animals.

7. Pricing and billing

Prices for Purrpetual™ tiers, pharmacy items, special diets, and supplies are shown on the Services and may change from time to time; changes apply to future billing periods, never retroactively to a period already begun. You authorize us to charge your payment method for all amounts you incur, including recurring membership charges and recurring auto-refill charges, plus any applicable taxes and shipping. You are responsible for keeping your payment information current; if a charge fails, we may retry it, and a lapse in payment may interrupt your plan and your cat's auto-refills — which is why we encourage families to keep it current, so her care is never the thing that's interrupted. All amounts are in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise. Except where these Terms or the law require it, payments are non-refundable.

8. Referral relationships

We want you to understand how furever earns, because honesty is part of how we stay close. Adoption is free; our work is sustained by the care relationship that follows. furever may receive referral compensation, commissions, or other consideration from veterinary, pharmacy, and pet-insurance partners in connection with services your cat receives, prescriptions she is dispensed, and insurance you choose to purchase. These relationships help us keep adoption free and a lifetime of care coordinated and effortless. They do not change the care your cat needs, and they never reduce the love behind it.

9. Acceptable use

Please use the Services kindly and lawfully. You agree not to: provide false information in an application or account; resell, sell, breed, or commercially exploit a furever cat; misuse, divert, resell, or stockpile prescription medications, or obtain them for any animal other than your own cat; interfere with, disrupt, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services; or use the Services to harm a cat, a person, or furever. We may suspend or end access to the Services, and in serious cases involving the welfare of a cat we may take further steps, where someone breaks these promises. A cat's safety always comes first.

10. Disclaimers

We give our whole hearts to this work, but we cannot promise outcomes. The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. furever does not warrant that any cat will achieve any particular health outcome, that any condition will remain stable, that any course of care will succeed, or that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free. Estimated monthly care figures are illustrations, not guarantees. Nothing on the Services is veterinary advice; your cat's veterinarian is the right source for that. Caring for a living creature carries real and ongoing responsibility that no plan removes.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, furever and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Services, the care of your cat, or these Terms, whether based in contract, tort, or any other theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the fullest extent permitted by law, furever's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid to furever in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred U.S. dollars. furever is not the provider of veterinary care and is not liable for the acts or omissions of independent Furever Certified clinics or veterinarians. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain of these limitations, and in those places they apply only as far as the law allows.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless furever and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Services, your care or handling of your cat, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of any person or animal.

13. Arbitration and dispute resolution

We would always rather talk than litigate, so before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@joinfurever.com and give us thirty days to make it right. Most things can be resolved with a conversation.

If we can't, then to the fullest extent permitted by law, you and furever agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration provider under its applicable consumer rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You and furever agree that any arbitration will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, collective, or representative action; the class-action waiver is an essential part of this agreement. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by writing to legal@joinfurever.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.

14. Changes to these Terms

The Services will grow, and these Terms may grow with them. When we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in a gentle, ordinary way. Changes take effect when posted, and by continuing to use the Services after they take effect you accept the updated Terms. If you ever don't agree with a change, you're free to pause or cancel — and, as always, your cat's care continues however you choose to provide it.

15. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with any plan terms and the policies referenced here, are the entire agreement between you and furever about the Services. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision right away doesn't waive it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or successor. Headings are for ease of reading only.
