The thesis

Every other pet company sells a transaction. We begin a relationship.

Adoption is treated, almost everywhere, as the finish line — match a cat to a person, wish them well, and never speak again. We think that's backwards. The adoption is the beginning. The years of devotion that follow are the part that matters, the part nobody has ever supported well, and the part where furever lives.

Our model rests on two of the most stable human behaviors we have ever measured.

Bonding is instant and total.

A person and a cat form a complete attachment within days, often within minutes. It doesn't build slowly. It arrives whole. By the end of the first week, the cat is family — and there is no trial period in the human heart.

Devotion doesn't reverse.

Once bonded, willingness to provide is effectively unbounded and remarkably durable. People don't comparison-shop their family, and they don't cancel it. The relationship simply continues for the whole of the cat's life.

The most valuable thing in our business isn't a cat and isn't a customer. It's the bond — and everything we build exists to create it, protect it, and serve it for as long as it lasts.

The model

Adoption is acquisition, not revenue.

We place cats free, or as near to free as local regulation and dignity allow. This is deliberate, and it is the best business decision we have made.

A price on adoption is friction at exactly the moment we least want it. Every fee is a reason to hesitate, to "think about it," to walk away from a bond that hasn't formed yet. So we remove it. We carry the cost of intake, health, and placement ourselves, and we book it where it belongs: as customer acquisition cost.

The conversion we care about doesn't happen at adoption. It happens about three weeks later, on the couch, when a person realizes they would do anything for this animal. Everything before that moment is marketing. Everything after it is the business.

We acquire bonds at a loss, and then we honor them for a lifetime. Lifetimes, it turns out, are extraordinarily good business. furever

Most cats we place live with a chronic, manageable condition — and chronic means a prescription that refills, on a schedule, for the life of the animal. Auto-refill is on by default, framed as care that never lapses. Our highest-margin recurring line, and our most durable: the demand is medical, lifelong, and emotionally non-negotiable.

Exclusive territories

We certify independent clinics in our protocols and designate them the care home for our members in their area — one partner per territory. Families experience seamless continuity of care; clinics receive a protected stream of pre-bonded, high-compliance, high-frequency members. We earn a referral margin on care routed through the network, and the advantage compounds with density.

Auto-replenish

Every condition opens a world of supporting needs — therapeutic diets, supplements, mobility aids, skin and coat care, feeding equipment, sweaters. Curated for the exact condition, auto-replenished, recommended by the people the family already trusts with the animal's life. Attach rates are high because trust is already solved.

Insurance Referral

Partner kickback

We refer members to partner pet-insurance providers and earn a referral fee. It cushions families against catastrophic cost, and it expands the household's capacity to pursue every available treatment for the cat we placed. Insurance doesn't reduce our revenue — it grows the room a family has to provide.

The moat

Two walls, and almost nothing crosses either.

Emotional lock-in

You cannot unlove your cat. Our retained revenue isn't protected by switching costs or contracts — it's protected by love, the strongest retention mechanism that exists and the only one that strengthens over time. A subscription can be cancelled. A bond cannot. The bond does our retention for us, for free, for life.

Geographic vet exclusivity

Around each member sits a single Furever Certified clinic holding their cat's entire history and the only frictionless path to care. The emotional wall keeps families from wanting to leave; the structural wall ensures that even if they did, the nearest warm, knowledgeable, continuous care is ours.

Voluntary churn is statistically near zero. The ~3% that ends each year is overwhelmingly the animal's long life reaching its natural close — not a family choosing to leave. Because retention is bond-driven rather than contract-driven, our lifetime forecasts carry a confidence ordinary subscription businesses can only dream of.
